Your Job and Muscle Pain.
So what does a truck driver, an office secretary, and a construction worker all have in common? They all have occupations that require them to do the same, repetitive patterns of motion…over and over again. What does that mean? It means for 40 hours a week these people are OVER-using some muscles while UNDER-using others! Three words: Chronic Muscle Imbalances!
Whether it be the poor posture and sore neck of the secretary or the aching shoulders of a construction worker, the root cause of this pain is from muscles that are overworked and in a constant state of contraction. They then fill up with lactic acid and other toxins and become tight and sore. This leads to adhesions between the tissues causing improper movement and even scar tissue.
So what’s the solution?
Well there’s no one perfect solution, but you can essentially break down the treatment into the following:

Treatment from a Practitioner:

I’m talking about seeing a good Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, or Registered Massage Therapist. Through different techniques and treatments (specifically forms of Trigger Point Therapy), they will stimulate fresh blood flow into these muscles, loosen them up, and break down adhesions and scar tissue.

This is one of the most important factors in effectively treating the muscle and not having the pain come back! While it would be great if we could all see a practitioner 1-2x a day for free at our convenience…this is simply not the case. In between sessions with a practitioner it is extremely important to maintain these self-treatments at home on a more frequent basis. Depending on the severity and nature of the injury/issue this could result in a few times a week to twice a day. Now there are many products out there to help with this process of course, but never before has it been so easy to self-treat than with Dr. B’s Trigger Pointer ®! Our product is unique in that it allows an effective therapeutic amount of pressure to Trigger Point, with minimal strength required due to our ergonomic design. Please go to to purchase your own Dr. B’s Trigger Pointer ®. Bottom line is Trigger Point Therapy is one of the most widely used and effective therapies for treating muscle pain that’s common between all major practitioner designations and you now have the ability to do this yourself!

You NEED to static stretch muscles that are over-worked in order to lengthen them back to a “neutral” state (think muscle balance). Please see for a comprehensive explanation and guide to stretching.

The last thing you need to incorporate in your rehabilitation program is resistance training! You need to strengthen (condition) the antagonist muscles to the affected (injured) muscle in order to provide an opposite force to KEEP the treated muscle from reverting back to its over-worked, shortened, contracted state!
There you have it – FOUR ways to treat the muscle pain caused by your job! So if you plan to be working at a job where you are doing the same movements, over and over again, MAKE SURE you properly take care of yourself!
